These Terms of Service govern your use of TileSmithy, a web application for designing deterministic autotile tilesets for Godot 4 and, optionally, texturing their surfaces with AI. TileSmithy is operated by the operator of TileSmithy ("TileSmithy", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use TileSmithy.
We wrote these terms to be read. They are meant to be clear and fair to a working game developer, not a wall of boilerplate.
By registering for or using TileSmithy you enter into a binding agreement with the operator of TileSmithy under these terms. You confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, and that any information you give us is accurate.
If you use TileSmithy on behalf of a company or team, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.
TileSmithy lets you design tileset geometry — edges, corners, transitions, terrain bits and collisions — using deterministic, seed-reproducible math, and export a working tileset.tres for Godot 4 together with the spritesheet PNG. You may optionally use AI to paint the surface textures; the tile geometry itself never uses AI.
The service is provided on an ongoing basis and may evolve over time. We may add, change or remove features to improve TileSmithy or to keep it maintainable.
You need an account to save tilesets, export without limits and buy plans or credits. You sign in with an email address and a password. Keep your password confidential — you are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
One account is for one person. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You can delete your account at any time from your settings.
TileSmithy offers a Free plan and a paid Pro plan, plus optional one-off AI credit packs:
Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay and may include applicable taxes. We may change prices or plan features in the future; changes will not affect a billing period you have already paid for, and we will give reasonable notice of material changes.
You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Pro subscriptions are covered by a full 14-day refund, no questions asked. AI credit packs are refundable while they remain entirely unused — and because credits never expire, there is no pressure to spend them. To request a refund, contact us through the contact page.
If you are a consumer in the EU, these terms do not affect your statutory rights, including any legal right of withdrawal that applies to you.
You own what you make. Everything you export from TileSmithy — the spritesheet PNG and the tileset.tres, including any AI-painted textures baked into it — is yours to use, worldwide and forever, in commercial and non-commercial games and projects. No royalties, no attribution required. We claim no ownership over your designs, your saved tilesets or your exports.
The only condition is the Free-plan watermark: after your first watermark-free export each month, further exports made on the Free plan carry a small repeating TileSmithy label. You may not remove, hide or circumvent that watermark by technical means — instead, upgrade to Pro and re-export the exact same tileset clean.
TileSmithy itself — the application, its designer, its geometry engine, its brand and its code — remains ours. Your ownership covers the tilesets you export, not the platform that produced them.
The tile geometry is procedural math and contains no AI. AI is used only, and only if you choose it, to paint the surface textures. AI-textured output is labelled as such inside the app.
When you generate a texture, the text prompt you write is sent to a third-party AI image-generation provider that produces the image. You are responsible for the prompts you write and for making sure your final use of a texture does not infringe anyone else's rights. AI output is provided as is: it can be imperfect, and similar prompts may produce similar results for different users.
To the extent we hold any rights in an AI texture you generate, we grant them to you as part of your export (see section 6). Note that, in some jurisdictions, purely AI-generated images may not attract copyright at all; that is a feature of the law, not a limit we impose.
When using TileSmithy, you agree not to:
We work to keep TileSmithy available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service may be unavailable during maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
We may modify or discontinue features. If a change materially reduces core functionality you rely on, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
You may stop using TileSmithy and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law, giving notice where it is reasonable to do so.
If your account ends, you lose access to the service and to tilesets stored only in your account. Any tilesets you have already exported and downloaded remain yours to use under section 6.
TileSmithy is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, data or goodwill arising from your use of the service.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Spanish or EU law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
We may update these terms as TileSmithy evolves or as the law requires. When we make material changes we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use TileSmithy after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain and the applicable law of the European Union. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence in the EU, and you may bring disputes before the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
